The UPS itself is fixed device that generates a certain amount of power for a certain amount of time – while being powered up itself by a set of batteries. Keep in mind that UPS systems are usually used to keep the computers and automated systems running for the time between the start of a power cut and when the generator kicks in – they are not used over long periods of time.
